It is with great regret that we had to decide to cancel the Sunday evening masses until the Bishops’ Conference of the Netherlands allows us to celebrate it with more than 30 people.
We have kept the evening mass option open for as long as we could, to give as many people access to the Eucharist as much as possible. However, during the past 4 weeks, the number of “no shows” has been around 40%, despite fully booked seat registrations. It takes a team of 10 volunteers to organize the registration, sacristy, music, liturgy, and door control. These low numbers, combined with decreasing temperatures in church, make it no longer a realistic option to continue.
We all hope and pray that we may soon go back to a more normal situation but for now, I thank you for your understanding.
Through the video streaming of our Sunday morning masses, which will continue, we hope to stay connected with each other.
Please count on my prayers for your wellbeing.
Best wishes and kind greetings,
Fr. Sjaak de Boer
