World Music Concert- 29 May

April 30, 2021

The COS Hand in Hand Project is happy to announce a special concert as the first live event since the lockdown began.   The concert will take place on Saturday, 29 May from 16:00- 17:00. A limited number of our refugee friends will be invited to attend in person, but the concert will also be livestreamed so a wider audience can enjoy the music.

Arash Mahdawi, from Tehran, Iran, and Ilyas Nadjafi, from Kabul, Afghanistan will be the musicians featured in the concert.  Both Arash and Ilyas are exceptionally talented musicians and graduates of Codarts Conservatory of World Music in Rotterdam.  Arash will be playing improvisational classical raga music on the bansuri flute, and Ilyas will sing Persian ghazal music.    For them, world music expresses a universal language of the heart which is welcoming and unifying.  For those who would like to join in, watch this space where we will publish a link to the concert closer to the actual date.
