From 1- 6 August, four young adults from our parish – Antonio, Hannia, Iván & Lupita – travelled to the World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal. They joined over 1.5 million youth from around the world and very ably represented our parish, bringing our church banner and leaving a commemorative candle on the site.

“Do not be afraid to change the world!” was the Pope’s inspirational message to the youth. The Pontiff celebrated mass with all the youth attending the event on Sunday.

Many thanks to those who helped to support their trip by participating in the door collection. As is evident from their smiling faces, they had a fantastic time and were terrific ambassadors for our parish!

The youth would especially like to thank the mother of our concierge (Catia), who hosted them while they were in Lisbon. She very generously provided them with a warm welcome, a place to sleep, and, of course, fantastic home-cooked food.
