On Saturday, 13 September 2025, three of our Altar Servers represented our parish at National Altar Servers Day. More than 450 altar servers and acolytes from all 7 dioceses in The Netherlands gathered at the Basilica of Saints Agatha and Barbara in Oudenbosch for the celebration.
The day began with an informal meet and greet at around 10:00 followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, con-celebrated by 2 Bishops, several priests and deacons. Along with the 450+ altar servers and acolytes, numerous religious sisters and lay faithful also attended. During the celebration of the Eucharist, the main celebrant shared a beautiful sermon about our journey in our Pilgrimage of Hope. He reflected on the beauty of serving at the altar and how all altar servers should be proud of this great calling and service.
After the celebration of the Eucharist, all participants (altar servers, acolytes and the other faithful present) participated in a scavenger hunt in groups from different parishes and dioceses. The event ended with a blessing from the Bishop of Breda in the presence of the relics of Saint Carlos Acutis at around 16:00. All were encouraged to keep up with the good work in the presence of God.
