Confirmation

Ages: 14 and older as of 1 May 2025; Students must be mature enough to actively participate in mass, homework, and class discussions without parental supervision.

Covers: A deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in our lives and in the life of the Church.

Due to maximum capacity reached registration for Confirmation class for the school year 2024/2025 is now closed!

Classes

Class meetings are normally held on Sunday evenings from 3:30 – 5:30 PM or right before evening mass in the COS Atrium or COS Loft.

Regular class attendance is necessary for the candidates to be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

As practicing Catholics, candidates should receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once during the year.

Baptismal Certificate

An information sheet for your child’s Baptism must be on file in order to complete Confirmation. Please submit a copy of this form to the Confirmation Coordinator as soon as possible.

Retreat

Each year the Confirmation group participates in a weekend retreat which is held at the church. Participation is mandatory.

Sunday mass

We expect that candidates attend Mass weekly with their families as part of their commitment to faith, celebration of the Eucharist, and communal worship.

Community service hours

Confirmation Candidates must complete 6 hours of community service in one of the many parish events. Students may also submit volunteer activities outside of the parish.

Parent Volunteers

Most class meetings involve instruction and small group discussion, which can only work with enough adult volunteers. We will need every parent to assist with 1 – 2 meetings a year as a small group facilitator. No advance preparation is needed, and a signup list will be offered at our first meeting. You will be able to see the kind of preparation and catechism your child is undergoing.

Book

We use the Decision Point Confirmation program from Dynamic Catholic. We encourage parents and sponsors to follow along at https://www.dynamiccatholic.com/plus/decision-point.html.
