Pope Francis has published a follow-up to his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’. Entitled Laudato Deum (Praise God), the letter amplifies the message from Laudato Si’ and stresses that the care of our common home flows from our Christian faith. It is a timely message ahead of the upcoming COP28 meeting in Dubai during November and December this year calling for urgent action to alleviate the climate crisis.
The Pope stresses that climate change is not the fault of the poor, yet they suffer the most from it.
“With the passage of time, I have realized that our responses have not been adequate, while the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point. In addition to this possibility, it is indubitable that the impact of climate change will increasingly prejudice the lives and families of many persons”
