Caring for the Physical and Financial well-being of our church
Behind the scenes of our welcoming church services and vibrant community gatherings lies a foundation of dedicated effort and careful resource management. This often-unseen work ensures that our church building remains a safe and inviting haven. Oftentimes, we focus on the BIG C, but we need to shine the spotlight on the small c, too. This because the small c is not just the church building but foremost the Care for the Church and the people who visit it.
Everyday Cost of Care
- Building Maintenance: From routine cleaning and upkeep to repairs and renovations, our historic building, which is also a monument, requires ongoing attention to ensure its longevity.
- Utilities and Supplies: Heating, lighting and the supplies needed for our programs and events all come with associated costs.
- Staffing: Our dedicated staff members ensure the smooth running of our facilities and programs.
Caring Hands
- Volunteers: Countless individuals generously donate their time and talents to cleaning, gardening, doing repairs and supporting our various programs.
- Donors: The financial contributions of our members make it possible to meet our everyday expenses and invest in the future of our church.
Church Heater
One of the unknowns in our Church of Our Saviour is a steadfast old heater that has tirelessly warmed the sanctuary for countless winters. Its steady hum and gentle warmth have welcomed generations of worshippers, providing comfort during services and solace during quiet moments of reflection. Though its paint may be chipped, and its metal frame may show signs of wear, this faithful heater continues to fulfill its duty with unwavering dedication. A testament to enduring service and quiet strength, it stands as a symbol of the church’s commitment to providing warmth and welcome to all who enter its doors.
It is expected that sooner, rather than later, this heater will need to be replaced.
Church Organ
A big old building always has some part that needs immediate attention, from unblocking toilets and repairing doors to a large-scale restoration of the organ.
The latter will be carried out by the company Pels en van Leeuwen, who specializes in this field at an overall cost of around €31,000. Half of this will be covered by insurance, and the other half is left for the parish to finance. We aim to finish this project by Christmas of this year 2024.
