Inspirational Thoughts
Spring invites us for more fun and joyful times together. We look forward to the First Communion of more than 70 kids, Confirmation of 30 youths, and lots of weddings. Eastertide shows new light and life in the planet and the Church. A few extra festivities this year will increase our joy in the coming months. On 10 June we celebrate One Generation of COS. We have been building our community together for the last 25 years. Moving from the Aloysius College school hall chapel, to a temporary location in Mariahoeve, and finally finding our home in Bezuidenhout. After a lot of renovation and restoration in our current church, we have a home for a vibrant community with many groups and a good outreach program to care for the needy around us. On Saturday we will celebrate this with a Food Fair from 12.00-16.00 around the church and from 19.00 onwards with an informal dinner in the atrium and a big party in the tent next to the church. The internationally known live band “The Menu” with our very own Kyle as the lead singer will get us all on the dance floor. On Sunday 11 June at 11.00 there will be a festive Mass followed by a reception to mark my 25years as pastor of our parish. After these festivities, our youth will concentrate in preparing to go to Lisbon for the World Youth Day with Pope Francis. The theme for this year is the story of the Annunciation. ‘There is something in the air’ will be the vibe for the youth to discover their motivation to ‘get up and go’. About 1 million youths from all over the world are expected for this big event. All in all, as the days lengthen and the sun becomes stronger, a festive summer awaits us after a somber period of high energy prices and many crises in the world. We all need some fun and inspiration from our faith and from...
