Prinsjesdag 2022

September 15, 2022
Prinsjesdag  (3rd Tuesday in September every year) is the day on which the reigning monarch of The Netherlands addresses a joint session of the States-General of the Netherlands (consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives) from the throne.

This year, Prinsjesdag falls on 20 September and is an event worth following on television with all its pomp and pageantry.

At 12.45, a Glass Coach will be driven from the Royal Stables to the Noordeinde Palace to pick up the royal couple. They will then drive via Heulstraat, over the Kneuterdijk, Lange Voorhout and the Tournooiveld to the Koninklijke Schouwburg.

The Speech from the Throne starts at 13.15 in which King Willem-Alexander will announce the government’s most important plans for the coming year.

At 13.50, the tour returns via the same route and at 14.00 the well-known balcony scene will take place at the Noordeinde Palace.

Please note that the Parish office will be closed on Prinsjesdag.
