The relics of St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower) are coming to The Netherlands from 9 – 16 June. As part of their tour of the country, the relics will be hosted by our parish on Tuesday, 11 June. A Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 to commemorate the event. The Church will be open for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 18:30.

A short synopsis of St. Therese and the full program of the tour of her relics can be found at www.theresedelisieux2024.nl

The activities and events may also be found in the brochure here.

UPDATE: 11 JUNE

The relics were planned to be received at our church but due to logistical difficulties, this was not possible. While the relics of St. Therese stayed in the St. Jacobus Church on Parkstraat, Father Sjaak said a beautiful Mass commemorating the simple life of St. Therese and invoked her blessings on the congregation that was present.

St. Therese was only 24 years of age when she died of tuberculosis, but in her short life on earth she wrote about her sufferings and offering them to God.

Relics of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Peerke Donders were placed before the Altar during the Mass. These are part of the reliquary of our parish. Together with these sacred relics and the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a beautiful atmosphere of prayer and devotion filled the entire afternoon, where visitors could spend moments of silence.

May we continue to be led by the lives of these saints who suffered greatly for the glory of God.
