On Sunday 11 February, the Church celebrates the World Day of the Sick and the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Every year in Lourdes about six million pilgrims gather to pray and have quality time around the sick and those in need of healing. One of the highlights in Lourdes besides the procession of lights and the baths is the celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick.
In our parish we also offer the opportunity to receive the Anointing of the Sick on that Sunday after the evening Mass. Anyone who feels that this sacrament could strengthen his/her physical or mental well-being is welcome to come forward. The celebration will take place around the altar with the laying on of hands and the anointing of the palms of hands and foreheads following the words of the apostle James. “Are there people sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the church and let the priests pray over them anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. If they have committed any sins, then they will be forgiven them.”
