On Sunday, 23 October at 21:00, a replica of the World Youth Day (WYD) Pilgrim Cross arrived at our church accompanied by an icon of Our Lady Salus Populi Romani. The cross and icon are the two symbols of the World Youth Day and they are touring the world during the lead up to the World Youth Days 2023 in Lisbon, from 1- 6 August, 2023.
The cross and icon were accompanied by a small group of youth, who slept overnight in our parish center and then accompanied the cross and icon to it’s next stop in Leiden, and then on to Gouda.
The symbols and their small entourage will be travelling around The Netherlands until 8 November. A map of their tour in The Netherlands can be found on the Dutch World Youth Day website.
