Advent Giving Tree Update

January 11, 2021

Every year during Advent, our church runs a successful Advent Giving Tree campaign. A  Christmas tree is set up at the back of our church and is decorated with envelopes instead of ornaments. Parishioners donate any amount up to € 50 and place it in one of the envelopes. The money collected is then distributed to our less fortunate brothers and sisters on the last Sunday of Advent. As such, our Christmas tree is a symbol of light, as well as generosity and compassion.

This year we had to be a little creative with our Advent Giving Tree. Even though we could not physically take  the envelopes off the tree to fill it with a gift, just like Santa fills a Christmas stocking, our community still donated generously online to those in need. The result of this year’s giving tree is fantastic! We received a total amount of €3,575 and provided 50 families and people in need with a little surprise for the festive season.  Thank you very much for your generosity!
